The joke that has been made by the fifa president on Bafana Bafana its other way tosay Joel Santana is not the right couch for South Africa. The fifa president made a joke that if it was not that his contract with fifa expires in 2011, he would be the Bafana Bafana coach. He also stated that it was "incredible" that Bafana Bafana had gone from being the African Cup of Nation champions in 1996 to failing to even qualify for the crunch tournament in 2008.
I took the statement "if was not in contract with fifa which expires on 2011, I would be Bafana Bafana couch". This statement on a serious note means a lot, may be the fifa president is trying to arlet South Africans that the current couch Joel Santan is competent. mind you South Africa will be participating in the competitiion nect year with the best teams in the world.
Joel santana scince he arrived only won one match in six matches, this and the joke that has been made by the fifa president made me to realise that Joel Santana will face a tough challange. i see no difference between Joel Santan and the former Bafana Bafana couch Stuat Baxter. We complaine about Stuat Baxter as incompetent and lack of internal experience. The same applies to joel Santana, He never couched any national squad prio South Africa, yet we shielded him because he is from Brazil.
We were told that this was the guy to drive the vision of Carlos Alberto Parreira; we were told that this was the second messiah of South African football — the man to right the wrongs in our soccer and bring about much-need revolution.Santana is a likeable lad. He has a great smile and I’m convinced that if he were fluent in English, he would have fantastic quotes for journalists. But since coaching the national side is not a popularity contest, I will be frank in my assessment of him.
Blatter's joke should be taken seriously, he was trying to say thing indirectly.
